Wish you were here (wherever that is)

Postcard Project

We are officially home-free as opposed to home-less. Our home, as you know, is now 100% on wheels. It is already one week since we left the comfort of our bricks-and-mortar home overlooking the Detroit River. It felt like a marathon moving out of that apartment. We certainly put the U in Haul! Most days in the final couple of weeks, we would learn from the Apple Watch that we had climbed as many as 50 flights of stairs and counted 12 or 13 kilometres of steps. Too bad the watch was unable to weigh the number of kilos of boxes, donations and furnishings we carried down to the van and then to the storage unit in Windsor. In the end, we have very few furnishings in storage. Those two 5’x10′ units contain our art collection, family photos and ephemera, a reduced selection of books and cookbooks, a complete kitchen, our work archive, bikes and some clothes and linens. Closing the doors on the storage unit, we both breathed a final sigh of relief. Before that, we said and continue to say so long to many friends and family. And we have begun to make the rounds visiting people we love, not knowing when we might see them again. We expect to be on our way to who knows where or by which route (your guess is as good as ours) by next week.

In the meantime, we would like to invite you to join our Postcard Project. If you would like to receive a postcard by old-fashioned snail mail, please email us your mailing address, and we will send you a one-of-a-kind postcard from somewhere! Send to: info@folksblogen.com

We look forward to sharing the next chapter of Folksblogen with you! You can see from the maps above that we have a lot of territory in North America yet to see!

Love, Julie Christian and MacDuff
