When the world reopens one of the first places we When the world reopens one of the first places we want to explore is Scotland. Our ancestors, the Morrisons and the Gibbs, left this storied country in the 1800s to make new lives in Canada. We dream of traversing the Cairngorm Mountains with the words and wisdom of Nan Shepherd and Robert Macfarland guiding us; visiting historic sites that we’ve been reading about these past few months; delving further into our own family his and herstories; and, of course, sampling the water of life everyone we go. In the meantime we’re here celebrating the old bard, Robert Burns, and his poetry and planning for what we’re sure will be a transformative adventure. #robbieburnsday #burnsnightin #planningforfuturetravel #scotland #postcovidadventures #travelbyvan #athomeinourhymer

Nan Shepherd wrote about living one sense at a time in order to fully appreciate a place. Looking for things we have not yet seen or with new eyes...that’s where we’re at these days. #covid #lockdown #ontario #amherstburg #navyyardpark #detroitriver #livingonesenseatatime #nanshepherd #inspiration

Do you feel like you’ve been waiting for Godot? Do you feel like you’ve been waiting for Godot? Or like a bird awaiting migration, restless in the lead up to a long journey?

We felt like we were still for all of 2020. Looking back, we weren’t as stationary as we imagined, though much more so than we have been in a very long time.

We never want to stop going, moving, exploring, seeking new experiences, new wild places. We’ll have to do it nearby for a while longer.

In or newest blog post we share how we did more than just wait in 2020. Link in bio.

We stayed in a house in the hamlet of Suare (Siri insisted on calling it Square), in the village of Misincu. We became friends early on in our residency with a wonderful little family (Aldo, Carole and Renee). When answering questions in English, in the affirmative, we would reply, ‘of Corsica!’ And as the date of our departure loomed nearer and nearer we would let each of our friends know just how much we would be, ‘misincu,’ when we left this enchanting, beautiful island smelling of glorious maquis. We’re not sure if 2021 is the year we return to Corsica but return we will and it will definitely be for longer than a month. In the meantime we made this pillow which reminds us of the harbour in Bastia and that we will travel there again. #corsica #ofcorsica #illbemisincu #misincu #suare #bastia #bastiaharbour #sabbatical #wewilltravelagain #pillow #photoonfabric #handsewnletters
